HIGH HEELS AND CORSET REVUE
The HIGH HEEL AND CORSET REVUE is the first 'zine published by Vasta Editions. It is the prototype for the historical Eros Series published on the occasion of the MoMA PS1 Art Book Fair September, 2018. Printed by riso-graph in an edition of 100 copies, this 36 page digest sized 'zine is inspired by and an homage to the late '50/early '60s "fetish digests" published in New York City by Exotique, Burmel and Selbee. HHCR is devoted to, as the title indicates, high heels and corsets as well as other items of lingerie and footwear. This is book #000 in the Eros Series and does NOT contain nudity.
From the introduction: "Welcome to the inaugural volume of the Vasta Editions' Eros Series, a window into the history of smut, curated from the archives of Vasta Images/Books. Our archives are focused on 19th and 20th century images of the body and erotica. The Eros Series will be curated from rare and unusual books, magazines, photographs, postcards and other paper ephemera".
Featured are both photographs and illustrations, including images of Bettie Page, Tana Louise (aka Miss Exotique), Terri Burton (aka Barton), Brandee Kayse; and artwork by Gene Bilbrew (aka Eneg) and Eric Stanton. The cover is from the High Heel and Corset Revue, Selbee 1963; back cover by Eric Stanton, source unknown. Introduction and contents page, which when known, references the original source, model name, artist and photographer.
